In an interview with Entretetizei, Junny told a little more about her entry into the music industry and about her expectations with the tour.

Check out our chat with Junny:

Entretetizei: First of all, we would like to thank you for the interview.

Where did your interest in music come from? Did it come naturally, or did you have any encouragement or inspiration?

Junny: I was always singing around the house ever since I was a little boy, eventually learning how to play the guitar and writing songs for my highschool crush lol when I graduated highschool I realized music was the only thing that stuck by me my whole life so I decided to go that path. Choosing music as a career isn’t the safest route to take but thanks to my older brother I was able to gain confidence and he really helped me stay motivated and committed to my craft!

E: What was it like to debut in 2017 in the boom of the South Korean music industry?

J: It’s a bit different for me because my actual debut was in 2020! I was still in Canada when I released music in 2017 and it was all independent during that time. I think the biggest reason for me to come to Korea was because of the “boom” in the South Korean industry. To be honest I’m just thankful for the timing and if it wasn’t for the decision to move to Korea at that time, I wouldn’t be where I am today.

E: What were the biggest challenges you faced at the time?

J: I think it was the environment, living in a small studio with barely any room to sleep and clothes to hang, all I literally did was make music and dreaming for a better life. I knew at the time this was what I signed up for but being away from home and no one to rely on it was one of the biggest challenges I had to overcome.

E: Since the release of his single Thank You, the growth of his musical abilities has been visible. What is the process of creating your music? Do you follow any ritual at the time of production?

J: For me it’s all about the vibes in the studio. When writing my album I wanted everything to be true to myself with my own experiences so my team and I would constantly talk about life, what I’ve been through and certain moments that came to mind. I think that’s what my album “blanc” is all about and it definitely makes this the most personal album I’ve ever worked on.

E: We can’t talk about your career without mentioning JungKook, from BTS. What was it like to have been noticed by one of the biggest names in K-Pop (and one of today’s greatest artists)?

J: It was insane!!! At first I couldn’t believe it. The fact that he knew my song and watching him sing along to “By My Side” was such a heartwarming moment.. It was also my birthday that day (coincidence for sure) but it sure made a great birthday gift LOL.

E: And it wasn’t just JungKook who noticed your talent, was it?! What was it like to compose for artists like IU, Baekhyun (from EXO), Kai and Suho?

J: I’m just so thankful for these opportunities and it definitely became my biggest achievements as a songwriter. These amazing artists inspire me everyday and I think that’s what motivates me to strive as an artist. I’ll forever be grateful for being able to be a part of their albums!! It’s an indescribable feeling.

E: His most recent work was the single Color Me, a partnership with Chung Ha. What was it like to work with the artist and how did the feat come about?

J: This project was in the works for along time since I was working on my album, I wanted to try a different style and my long time songwriting friend MinGtion and I wrote a demo for this song and the moment it was finished I fell in love with it. I thought CHUNG HA being on the song as a feature would be the greatest thing ever and luckily, through MinGtion we were able to send over the demo and thankfully CHUNG HA liked the song as well!

E: Is there an artist who is your dream of a perfect feat?

J: I don’t think I can just name one artist to be honest I’d love to work with anyone that I can share a vibe with! I’m always open to work and searching for new artists and hopefully I’ll be able to continue on working with these talented artists around the world!

E: Now, five years after your debut, you are embarking on your first North American tour. What are your expectations?

J: Since it’s my first ever tour, I’m expecting to learn and have lot’s and lot’s of fun. I want to give a great show to my fans who are coming to watch me perform for the first time and I’m just so excited to finally see them in person <3

E: Do you want to expand your tour to other countries, which may include Brazil?

J: Of course! I’d love to perform all over the world if the schedule and timing is right!! I can’t forget about my fans in Brazil they show me so much love and hopefully we’ll be able to see each other very soon! 🙂

E:  I saw that there is a movement of Brazilian fans on your social networks. How do you get that affection from fans who are literally on the other side of the world?

J: It’s a blessing. Truly a blessing to be loved by fans across the world just because of my music. I feel like the best I can do for them right now is to be healthy, put out great music for them to enjoy and be the best version of myself! My fans are my biggest motivation for sure.

E: What message would you like to leave for your Brazilian fans?

J: To my lovely fans in Brazil, I just wanna say thank you from the bottom of my heart for your continuous love and support, I’ll do my best to bring a show to you very soon so in the meantime I hope you enjoy my upcoming album “blanc” and I love you so much!! Eu te amo! <3 ( I hope that’s correct )

E: Finally, what are Junny’s next steps as an artist? Are you planning to release an album, new single, work as a producer, or embark on a new tour?

J: Yes! Yes & Yes! my upcoming album “blanc” is coming very soon so stay tuned and I have much more music coming along the way. Also I am going on a North American tour in September! I feel like this is a new chapter for me and I hope to bring you more great news in the future!! Thank you so much for this interview and see you all very soon! 🙂
