The Crown, O Gambito da Rainha e Ted Lasso foram os destaques da premiação
Maior premiação da televisão americana, o Emmy Awards 2021 aconteceu neste domingo (19), no Microsoft Theater, em Los Angeles. O evento foi presencial e teve o comediante Cedric The Entertainer como apresentador.
As séries The Crown, da Netflix, e The Mandalorian, do Disney+, foram as produções que tiveram mais indicações a prêmios, com 24 cada uma. WandaVision, também do Disney+, teve 23 indicações e The Handmaid’s Tale, da Hulu, teve 21.
Queridinha do público e da crítica, a série da Netflix, The Crown, literalmente reinou nas categorias de drama. A história da família real britânica levou todas as estatuetas da categoria: série de drama, atores principais (Josh O’Connor e Olivia Colman), coadjuvantes (Gillian Anderson e Tobias Menzies), roteiro (Peter Morgan) e direção (Jessica Hobbs).
Outro super produção premiada do streaming “Tudum” foi O Gambito da Rainha, que levou onze estatuetas, entre elas, de Melhor Minissérie e Melhor Direção em minissérie, antologia ou filme para TV (Scott Frank).
Mas não foi só as produções da Netflix que brilharam, a série do HBO Max, Mare of Easttown, levou três estatuetas: melhor atriz (Kate Winslet) e melhores coadjuvantes (Julianne Nicholson e Evan Peters).
Razões de muitas risadas do público, as comédias Ted Lasso, da Apple TV+ e Hacks, do HBO Max passaram a noite em disputa para ver quem faturava mais estatuetas. E a vitória foi para Ted Lasso, foram quatro estatuetas no total: série de comédia, ator (Jason Sudeikis) e coadjuvantes (Hannah Waddingham e Brett Goldstein). Já a história de uma comediante veterana ficou com três: atriz (Jean Smart), direção (Lucia Aniello) e roteiro (Lucia Aniello, Paul W. Downs e Jen Statsky).
O Emmy 2021 também foi um marco para RuPaul, que se tornou o artista negro com o maior número de prêmios do evento ao receber o troféu pelo Melhor Programa de Competição da TV americana com RuPaul’s Drag Race. O apresentador chegou a 11 vitórias, e passou o diretor de fotografia Donald A. Morgan.
Além disso, a adaptação do musical da Broadway, Hamilton, de Lin-Manuel Miranda e disponível no Disney+ levou duas estatuetas: Melhor Especial de Variedades (Pré-gravado) e Melhor Direção Técnica, Câmera, Controle de Vídeo em Especial de Variedades.
Vale lembrar que no Creative Arts Emmy, premiação mais técnica do Emmy 2021, quem levou a melhor foi O Gambito da Rainha, da Netflix, que ficou com 9 troféus, seguida de The Mandalorian, que teve 7 vitórias.
